This article explains step by step how to create a subscription payment method. Similar to a streaming-platform subscription, it allows you to automatically collect recurring payments at the interval you choose — for example, weekly, monthly, or annually.
Step 1 – Access the offer for your subscription product
Go to Sales → Offers
Open an existing payment form, or create a new offer specifically for your subscription product.
Learnybox offers two configuration methods depending on whether you are using a:
Payment form
Payment button
Step 2 – Create and activate the subscription payment method
If you are creating a new payment form
In Step 3, Payment, of the offer creation process, select Subscription.
Set the payment frequency. This determines the interval between recurring payments.
Select the payment integration you want to use, such as LearnyPay, Stripe, or PayPal. Only payment integrations already enabled in your account settings will appear. To use another integration, activate it in your account settings first.
Continue through the remaining steps to complete the offer creation process.
If you are configuring an existing payment form
Open the payment form you want to configure to access its dashboard.
Open the Payment Methods tab.
Click Add payment method, or edit an existing payment method.
Select the card payment integration you want to use, such as LearnyPay, Stripe, or PayPal.
In the Payment configuration section, select Subscription under Payment type.
Set the payment frequency.
Click Confirm (bottom right) to save the payment method configuration.
Note: In a payment form, the Multiple payments option is intended for installment plans and requires you to specify a fixed number of payments — at least two. It cannot be used to create an open-ended subscription.
If you are using a payment button
Payment buttons use a different configuration method. To create an open-ended subscription:
In the Product configuration section, set the Payment type to Multiple payments.
In the Number of payments field, enter X to allow an unlimited number of payments.
Set the payment frequency.
Click Confirm in the bottom-right corner to save the payment button configuration.
Entering X means that there is no fixed number of payments. The subscription will continue until it is canceled.
How the subscription works
A subscription is a recurring payment with no fixed end date. It continues indefinitely until it is canceled.
Once the first payment has been successfully processed, Learnybox automatically creates the subscription. You can then view or edit it when necessary.
To access your customers' subscriptions, go to:
Sales → Orders & invoices → Subscriptions
⚠️ Warning: When setting up an open-ended subscription on a payment form, it must be the only payment method offered on that form. It is not compatible with other payment options on the same form, such as one-time payments or installment plans.
💡 Subscription payments work with all supported Learnybox card payment integrations, including LearnyPay, Stripe, and PayPal, as well as GoCardless for automatic bank debits.
