As of February 2024, major email providers like Gmail and Yahoo require all email senders to:

  • Authenticate their outgoing emails

  • Avoid sending unsolicited or bulk emails to unengaged recipients

  • Include easy unsubscribe options in their messages

These measures help protect users from spam and phishing attempts, and complying with them is essential to maintain a high email deliverability rate.

What You Need to Do

To comply with these new requirements, you must configure DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) alongside SPF for your sending domain.

How to Configure DMARC

Step 1: Identify Your DNS Hosting Provider

Determine where your domain is hosted. If your provider is not listed below, contact their support team to help you configure your DMARC record.

Step 2: Follow the Relevant Guide

Refer to the help articles below for guidance on setting up DMARC with popular hosting providers:

Step 3: Create DMARC Record

Create the following TXT record in the DNS settings of your domain:

Type: TXT

Subdomain (or Host): _dmarc

Value: v=DMARC1; p=none;
