How to create a submodule within an existing course module

Learn how to structure your course content by adding submodules to existing modules.

This article explains how to create a submodule within an existing course from its Content tab. Using submodules allows you to structure your courses in more detail and group related content under the same parent module.

Step 1 — Access your course content

Open the relevant course.

Click the Content tab to display all the modules in your course.

Step 2 — Add a new module

Click on Add module.

A window opens where you can configure the new module.

Step 3 — Configure the submodule

In the creation window:

  • Enter the submodule title.

  • Select the parent module where the submodule should be added.

Once you're done, scroll down and click Confirm to save your new submodule.

The new submodule is automatically added inside the selected parent module.

Verify that the submodule was created

Return to the Content tab of your course.

The submodule appears beneath the parent module selected during creation. You can then add pages to it and organize its content just like a standard module.
