This article explains how to set a time limit for individual pages in a survey, quiz, or evaluation.
Use it when you want participants to have a limited amount of time to complete the questions displayed on a specific questionnaire page before the system automatically submits the page and moves them to the next one.
How Page Timing Works
When a time limit is configured for a page, a countdown timer appears at the top of that page.
Once the timer runs out, the page is automatically submitted, and participants are redirected to the next page.
You can set a different time limit for each page. If you leave the default value of 0, the page has no time limit.
⚠️ The time limit applies to the entire page, not to individual questions. If you want different groups of questions to have separate time limits, place them on different pages.
Structuring Questions Across Pages
To control the pacing of your questionnaire, you can distribute your questions across several pages and give each page its own time limit.
For example, if your quiz contains 20 questions and you want 4 timed pages with 5 questions each:
When creating Question 1, assign it to a new page to create Page 1.
Assign Questions 2-5 to Page 1.
When creating Question 6, assign it to a new page to create Page 2.
Assign Questions 7-10 to Page 2.
When creating Question 11, assign it to a new page to create Page 3.
Assign Questions 12-15 to Page 3.
When creating Question 16, assign it to a new page to create Page 4.
Assign Questions 16-20 to Page 4.
Each of these 4 pages can then have their own time limit.
Steps to Set Time Limit per Page
1. Access the questionnaire
Go to Academy → Quizzes or Evaluations
Or go to Marketing → Surveys
Click the name of the questionnaire you wish to configure.
Example for an evaluation:
2. Set the page time limit
Open the Questions tab.
Click the Edit icon for the page you want to time. This opens the page configuration interface.
Under Page display time, enter the time limit in seconds.
You can also set a page description if needed, which appears above the timer.
Click Confirm (bottom right) to save and apply your changes.
3. Configure other pages if needed
Repeat the same steps for any additional pages that require a time limit. You can use a different duration for each page. Keep the default value of 0 for any page that should remain untimed.
What happens during the questionnaire?
Participants see a countdown timer on each page for which you configured a time limit.
When the timer reaches zero, the current page is automatically submitted and the participant moves to the next page, or completes the questionnaire if all questions are on the same page.
