How to automatically remove contacts from an email sequence when they are added to another

Learn how to create a rule that automatically removes contacts from one email sequence when they are added to another.

This article explains how to set up a LearnyMail rule that automatically removes contacts from one email sequence when they are added to another.

Use it when you want to avoid overlapping communications, ensuring removal of a contact from a Leads sequence once they've purchased your product and are added to a Customers sequence.

To streamline your email workflows, you can set up rules in your LearnyMail settings to automatically execute actions based on specific triggers and conditions.

Setting Up the Rule

1. Access Rule Setup

  • Option 1:
Navigate to MarketingEmailsSettings tab → Rules sub-tab → click Add rule.

Note: This method is recommended if your rule involves triggers or actions related to multiple sequences.

  • Option 2:
Go to MarketingEmailsSequences tab → select the desired sequence → open the Rules tab → click Add rule.

2. Create and Name Your Rule

  • Name your rule (optional: add a description to clarify its purpose).

3. Set Trigger

  • A contact is added to the sequenceCustomers sequence.

4. Set Action

  • Remove contact from sequenceLeads sequence.

With this rule created and enabled, contacts will be automatically removed from the Leads sequence whenever they’re added to the Customers sequence — helping you keep your communications targeted and relevant.
