Why does learner progress remain low or at zero?

Understand what can prevent Learnybox from correctly recording page views and learner progress in a course.

This article explains how Learnybox records learner progress based on time spent on each course page and what may prevent that progress from being tracked correctly.

For a page to be considered viewed, the learner must remain on it for at least ten seconds while the page is active. Certain browser, privacy, or network settings may interfere with this tracking.

Check the time spent on the page

Learnybox considers a page viewed when the learner remains on it for at least 10 seconds while the page is active.

If the learner switches tabs, minimizes the window, or leaves the page before this time has elapsed, the page view may not be recorded. As a result, their progress may remain low or at zero, even if they opened the page.

Disable the VPN

Using a VPN may interfere with progress tracking.

Ask the learner to temporarily disable their VPN, then reopen the course in a standard browser window.

Allow cookies

Cookies help Learnybox track navigation within the member space.

If cookies are blocked or deleted, Learnybox may not be able to record progress correctly. Ask the learner to allow cookies in their browser settings.

Exit private browsing mode

Private browsing can limit or remove certain browsing data needed for progress tracking.

Ask the learner to open the course in a standard browser window, then remain on each page for at least 10 seconds while the page is active.

Check browser extensions and the network being used

Some browser extensions may block the tracking scripts required to record progress. This includes extensions that restrict tracking, block scripts, or alter how web pages function.

Ask the learner to temporarily disable any extensions that may interfere with tracking, then reopen the course in a standard browser window.

A company network may also prevent tracking scripts from working correctly. If the learner is accessing the course from a professional network, ask them to test access from another network or check with their company's IT team.

Resume the course under the recommended conditions

For Learnybox to record progress correctly, the learner should:

  • temporarily disable their VPN.

  • use a standard browser window.

  • allow cookies.

  • temporarily disable extensions that may block tracking.

  • avoid company networks that may block tracking scripts.

  • keep each page active for at least 10 seconds.

What happens after these checks?

Once these conditions are met, Learnybox should be able to record page views correctly again, provided the learner remains on each page for at least 10 seconds while it is active.

If progress remains low or at zero after completing these checks, ask the learner to test a course page again using a standard browser window, without a VPN, and with cookies enabled.

FAQ

Why doesn't progress change even though the page was opened?

Simply opening a page is not always enough for progress to be recorded. The learner must remain on the page for at least 10 seconds while its window is active.
