Understanding these distinctions can help you identify how people in your user database are categorized based on their activity and relationship to your account.


Here is what each term means:

  • Users: People whose user records have been added to your user database. This includes anyone whose information has been saved in your Customer Relationship Management solution (CRM). Users include members, contacts, customers, affiliates, and account administrators.

  • Members: Users who are enrolled in at least one of the courses or communities you offer, meaning they have access to a dedicated member space, where they can access your content.

  • Contacts: Users registered in your autoresponder contact list who receive emails or newsletters as part of your communication campaigns.

  • Customers: Users who have completed at least one transaction with you, meaning they have purchased a product or service you offer.
