This article explains why Facebook may display an unexpected image when you share a free course registration link and how to choose the image you want to appear.
Facebook automatically generates a preview when you share the link. If the wrong image appears, you can update the image on your Learnybox registration page and then ask Facebook to refresh the information used for the preview.
When you share a free course registration link on Facebook, Facebook automatically displays a preview of the page that includes an image.
Sometimes, the image displayed may not be the one you want to use. For example, Facebook may retrieve another image available on the page, such as the profile picture of a course member.
This does not mean that there is a problem with your free registration link in Learnybox. Facebook retrieves and caches information from the page to generate the link preview.
To display the image of your choice, you must first add it to the free registration page in Learnybox, then ask Facebook to retrieve the page information again.
Step 1 - Add the image you want to display to your free registration page
The image you want Facebook to display must first be available on your free registration page.
Access the relevant course, then open the Settings tab.
Open the Free Registration sub-tab.
Click Customize design
In the editor, add the image you want to use in one of the following areas:
Left column → Logo
Right column → Image
Facebook will generally use one of these images when generating the link preview.
Once the image has been added, click Save and exit (top right) to save and apply your changes.
Step 2 - Ask Facebook to refresh the link preview
After adding the image to your free registration page, Facebook may continue using information it previously retrieved and stored for that page.
You therefore need to ask Facebook to retrieve the link information again.
Open the Facebook Sharing Debugger
Paste the full URL of your free registration page into the provided field.
Click Debug.
Facebook displays the information currently associated with the page, along with the link preview and the image being used.
Check the image displayed in the preview.
If Facebook is still using the previous image, click Scrape Again.
This asks Facebook to retrieve the latest information from your page, including the image used for the link preview.
What happens after this?
Facebook retrieves the latest information from your free registration page and updates the data used to generate the link preview.
The image you added when customizing the design can then be used when the link is shared.
If the previous image still appears after the first refresh, click Scrape Again once more to ask Facebook to retrieve the page information again.
