Offer your learners a complete training experience by automatically delivering a personalized certificate that reflects your brand. This tutorial guides you step by step through creating, customizing, and automating your certificates.
Step 1 — Create a new certificate
From the side navigation menu, navigate to Academy → Certificates.
Click Create certificate.
Enter the title of your certificate.
Choose a theme from the templates provided by Learnybox, or import your own custom template design.
Click Create certificate to access the editor.
Step 2 — Customize your certificate
The certificate editor opens with a customization panel on the left. Here are the elements you can modify:
General settings
Click General in the left customization panel.
Edit the certificate name if needed.
Customize the certificate delivery email (subject and content): the certificate will be sent as an attachment to each member who earns it.
Use available dynamic variables (first name, last name, course name, etc.) to personalize the email subject and content. These placeholders are automatically replaced with the corresponding data for each recipient.
Click Save, then click the back arrow icon at the top left of the screen to return to the main customization panel.
Background image
Click Image in the left customization panel.
To replace the background image: click Browse to upload and select your image.
To use a solid color instead: remove the image link and simply set a background color.
Logo
Click Logo in the left customization panel, then click Browse to upload and select your logo.
Enable or disable its display as needed.
In the actual certificate preview, drag and drop the logo to reposition it. A center guide helps align elements.
Adjust the logo size by modifying the element width.
Text elements
For each available text block:
Enter or edit the displayed text.
Apply formatting (bold, italic, underline).
Adjust alignment (left, center, right), size, color, and font.
Enable or disable each text element's display as needed.
Signature
Click Signature in the left customization panel.
Select Image mode, then click Browse.
Upload your signature image.
In the actual certificate preview, reposition it using drag-and-drop and adjust its size.
Step 3 — Set certificate awarding requirements
Click Requirements in the editor. Two options are available:
Option A — 100% course completion
Click Add a course.
Select the course to link to the certificate.
Click Add, then Save and exit.
The system automatically creates a rule in the selected course. You can find it in the course's Rules & Automation settings.
The rule works as follows: when a member completes the course (i.e., reaches 100% progress), the certificate is automatically sent.
Option B — Evaluation result
Create or open an evaluation you'll be using in your course.
In the evaluation's Actions tab, create an action based on score calculation. Click Add action, set the required score, then select Send certificate as the action to be executed.
Select the relevant certificate from the dropdown list, then click Confirm.
Tip: Ideally, place this evaluation at the end of a module (e.g., “Final exam”). The learner will complete it on the last page and receive their certificate by email if they reach the required score. They can then download it from the attachment.
⚠️ Important: If you activate both conditions at the same time (100% completion + assessment), the member may receive the certificate twice. We recommend using only one option.
Step 4 — Connect the certificate to your autoresponder (optional)
In the left customization panel's Automations section, you can trigger marketing actions when a member earns a certificate:
Link to an email sequence to send follow-up emails.
Assign a tag to the member to segment your audience (e.g., “Course A graduate”).
Track issued certificates
From your certificate list, you can view issued certificates in two ways:
By certificate: click the view icon (👁️) next to a certificate to see the list of members who obtained it, along with the date and time.
By member: open a member's user profile, click the Courses tab, then look at the Certificates section to view earned certificates and their issue dates.
